Reader reviews

Exploring how the cybernetic labyrinth of social media frequently functions as a magnifying medium for delusions, anger, and greed, Facebuddha is both a clarion call and an antidote to the alienation coursing through cyberspace. Dr. Chandra administers the cure by taking it himself. Offering up his own vulnerability through engaging stories and thought-provoking poetry, he enables readers to connect with him and with themselves. He weaves together a broad range of insights and experiences, including poignant reflections on tender moments with his mother that beckon us to enter into the gentle pools that ripple through life. Dr. Chandra shares his wit and wisdom on how to navigate life in a way that cultivates laughter and compassion. Facebuddha is an invitation to “make Buddha.”

Great book! Very thought-provoking and relevant in today’s world of mindless consumption via the web and social networking. Will certainly make you re-think the way in which you not only conduct yourself online, but in reality as well.

This is a very thought-provoking book. Not only did I re-think my relationship to social media, it reminded me of the spiritual truths that I often ‘misplace’ in my daily life. I have to compliment the author in being revealing and candid – it is difficult to be so open and personally honest. I confess that I haven’t dropped social media but I do use it much differently now and encourage others to think about what they are doing. I’ve recommended this book to several friends, believing that even the first read of this book can have a significant impact on one’s relationships. Thank you!

This book is a comprehensive look at the effects of social media from lots of different angles! Contrary to feeling more connected, it appears that many people end up feeling more isolated, alienated, and lonely. Dr. Chandra provides a provocative challenge to “social networking,” and encourages us to connect in person with those we care about.

Each sentence is effortless poetry. He beautifully jumps from being deeply personal, sparking different conversations to infusing bits of Buddhism. He has ideas that everyone should hear and a life story that is inspiring. Bottomline, this book is excellent.
